Cookie Cutter Websites Just Won’t Cut It…

Simply having a direct sales website that your company provides just isn’t going to cut it in the Internet Marketing world.

If you currently have a website that your direct sales company provides free or for a fee, it is most likely a “cookie cutter” site that all the other reps in your company have, with the exception of the contact information.

They usually look something like this- http://www.DSCompany.com/yourname

Right?

While these company websites are not bad to have, (I would never join a direct sales company without one) they are not the best tool for building your business online.

Company websites are good for 3 main things:

1. Buying a domain name and forwarding it your company website. Use this address on business cards to give directly to your customers so they can easily reach your website.

2. Ordering and dropshipping – Most company websites provide a shopping cart system in which customers can buy products and have them directly shipped.

3. New distributor sign up form – Again, this is usually found on most company websites where a potential teammember can sign up on your website to join your direct sales company and become part of your downline.

Numbers 2 & 3 in my option are essential reasons why these company websites are valuable to you. However, unless you know a ton of people who you are personally directing to your company website, it is probably not getting much traffic on its own.

But you’d never know this because you cannot track your visitors to this website.

Another thing that is not going to happen with your company website is getting search engine traffic.

The reason your company website will not get you traffic is because every other member of your company also has the same company website with the same information.

Search engines do not like a lot of duplicate content and tend to only list the official company website at the top of the listings when a search is performed.

This does nothing for you to get traffic to your website.

So what do you do? You build your own website of course!

Building your own personal website allows you to do 3 main things:

1. Optimizing your website with keywords that searchers are actively looking for. This is the only way searchers are going to find you in the search engines.

2. Track your visitors – There are programs you can use to see exactly how many visitors your website receives and where they are coming from. This is extremely useful to see what advertising may or may not be working for you, as well as targeting which keywords visitors are using to find your site.

3. Bring more traffic to your company site – The reason you are building a personal website in the first place. When built correctly your personal website will get traffic from the search engines, provide the content your searcher was looking for, and direct them to your company website sales or signup page.

So while your cookie cutter company website is useful, using it in conjunction with a site you own and built is the best way to start building your business online.

How Internet Marketing Can Help your Direct Sales Business

Most moms new to direct sales (and even seasoned ones) do not know what Internet Marketing is and how it can help their online direct sales business.

This is good news for you, because you now have the advantage to grow a solid direct sales business on the internet.

The reason Internet Marketing is perfect for the mom who wants to grow her direct sales business online is because you will no longer have to waste time on message boards, or buying leads, or spending anymore time online that is not producing results.

Why? Because when you take the time to learn some internet marketing skills, and put them into action, your customers and potential team members will be coming to you.

To apply Internet Marketing to your current business you will need to build your own website and/or blog which will be hosted on your own domain or through a service other than what your direct sales company is offering. This is absolute must.

Even though your ds company provides a website for you, it will do absolutely nothing for you unless you personally tell individuals about it and they visit it themselves.

Meaning, you are not going to get traffic from the search engines to your company website.

The good news is, your company website can work in conjunction with your own personal site or blog (that you build yourself) to bring targeted search engine traffic to your website(s).

More traffic=More customers=More money for your direct sales business.

What is Internet Marketing Anyway?

As a mom in direct sales, the term Internet Marketing may be completly foreign to you, or something you know very little about. The fact is, most moms in direct sales have no clue what it is, or what it can do for their business.

To make it simple, Internet Marketing is simply the marketing of services or products over the internet.
